I purchased a Ring Flash for my Canon cameras and the cost was $650, when I saw this I thought for a tenth of the cost I would get it for my Nikon Camera and macro lens. I like that it comes with different rings to fit several different diameter lenses. I like the cost and it was shipped to me within a week. The rubber cover over the external power source isn't a good fit, I had to put electrician tape over it to keep it on. I thought I might have TTL ability, but this flash only works in Manual mode. Because of this I only gave it 4 stars. For the money I think its a great deal, if you do a lot of macro work, it might be better to invest in a name brand flash with TTL otherwise - the price is a 1 that of the name brands and it works. Recycle time is a few seconds which is Ok, I plan to purchase an external power source for my Canon Ring flash and will give it a try on this unit as well.So far I am satisified.Read full review

I wish I could have afforded a Pentax ring flash that would have been able to communicate with my K-70 camera but that was not to be. This however is a well made and very adjustable ring flash that has for me the benefit of using Cokin type P lens adapters. I already had Cokin filter set with adapters for all my lenses. I have tried this flash unit with my macro lenses an like the results. It's a good value and I suggest you consider it if you like me don't want to pay the price of a dedicated flash for your DSLR.

I still have mixed feelings about this flash. It's large and cumbersome. Given that it is promoted to provide a controllable flash for close up photography, it sure is hard to use. Adaptor plates are rather crude but at least they fit. Firstly, no external power cord, so you have to rely on, next is the size - much bigger than expected and seems to block the cameras sensor. On lowest setting completely white washes every object when trying close up photography, but better for lighting up my whole back yard of 200 square metres from total darkness. I will have to practice more with it but given its size and overwhelming brightness, at the moment I am unable to use it for the "close up" shots I wanted it for. In hindsight, I probably would not have bought it had I had access to one first to try. Much better off with the built in flash for now or remote flashes on stands.Read full review
I really tried finding a reason not to rate 5-stars, but I can't. This flash does everything I expected of it. I photograph insects and wanted to replace my El Cheapo ringflash. After purchasing a Canon MP-E 65mm Macro Lens, I could not afford Canon's $500 MR-14EX Macro Ringflash. Professional reviews of the $100 Viltrox JY-670 were all very positive. I have not been disapointed. It does everything the Canon ringflash does, so why the $400 difference? ● This flash is totally manual. With no TTL, you cannot shoot in aperture priority. This is no problem for me, since I shoot manually anyway. I'm shooting with a Canon 50D, ISO 100, f/12, sync'd @ 1/250 sec and flash set at 1/32 - 1/16 full power, with astonishing results. ● Considering I'm photographing insects 0.5-8 mm, my lens & flash are less than 50 mm from the subject. At this distance, I'm shooting at a fraction of the power, which means the batteries last a long time. ● Ringflashes can make a macro photo look flat. I like being to balance the right-left flash. I have been shooting 1:2 ratio and am very pleased with the results. ● When shooting at 2-3 X actual size, the lens is so close to the subject that it blocks most ambient light. The flash's modeling light provides adequate light for focusing. If there were anything I would change about the Viltrox JY-670, it would be to for the modeling light to stay on another few seconds for focusing. But for $100 ... Robert Lord ZimlichRead full review
Yes it's not auto but it's not hard and it's better to use ring flashes manually anyways. Better then getting a more expensive flash for features you don't need. Comes with ring adapters too. Feels very solid
