I mainly bought it because of the price, and have been quite happy with it. It's not the fastest booting up, but it works great for my needs. I use the calendar, music player, e-reader and Google sky apps extensively. It also has several other apps pre-installed that I don't use, but have started up just to see what they do. I was disappointed to find that it can't access the Google app store directly, but I could find the .apk files I wanted elsewhere. There are a few apps, such as the Barnes and Noble Nook app, which won't install at all, though, which reduces the selection a bit. So far I've always been able to find a working substitute for every app I've tried to install. The built-in Wi-Fi works great, and can be turned off when not needed to save battery life. I mostly load stuff on it with either an SD card, or a USB cable, both of which work fine.Read full review
I bought this tablet for my daughter for Christmas. I ended up reselling it and buying a better one. This is good for its money, I only paid $40 for it. It could be used as a kindle which would be better than using it for internet. It does browse the web but not the way I had hoped. It does not have Google play store. In fact, I couldn't use Google at all, you can only use yahoo. Google is not compatable. If I kept it for my daughter, she wouldn't be able to download games, play games, or take photos ( no camera ). And it is not fast at all when browsing and when I tried downloading, it wouldn't. All I would have been able to do is save the link to a game online to her front screen so she could easily access it. So, maybe this would be perfect for a reader, or someone that just needs to check their mail or Facebook...but not for someone who wants games, fast browsing, or photos.Read full review
I suppose I will write this review to inform others about these tablets. *Please note- If you are not tech savvy, save yourself money and frustrations because these need work. The tablet is not supported by the designers. The Android 2.2 OS system with these conflict with anything that is Google. The java script crashes the system. Solution-Do not use anything from Google. Bing and other browsers work fine with these, but if your trying to download or installing apps disable the java script. Enable the Java to surf the Web. Another issue, the screen may close out and leave a black screen. Simply pressing the reset button will restart your tablet. For those who decide that they can work around these issues, it can be done, but if this is a gift to someone, you will have to educate the user about the issues, and if they change or clear any settings then your hard work of changing the browsers, settings, apps, ect. will be reset. In this case, you will have to do everything all over again. Last note, these tablets are worth it for the money, but anticipate issues and learning how to fix them.Read full review
Cool little product. If you want to get into a droid world then this is an easy cheap way to do it. Runs Android 2.2 fairly fast. No camera built in. But it does have a full size sd card slot for memory expansion. Surf the web or read a book from anywhere. Handy 7in size will almost fit in a pocket. Screen is clear, colors vibrant. Easy to use learning curve on a Droid is almost to easy if you've ever run a pc at all. Multi-touch screen is responsive. You need to install a extra app to gain access to the android market for all the apps. but most of the standard ones that come with the unit are great easy to use.
I bought the Velocity Cruz tablet with the anticipation that with a custom rom it could run some smaller games. This is somewhat true. I made sure to buy a velocity Cruz with a custom rom and superuser and the android market. The device worked well enough to run the simplest of games (a few games wouldn't even install) games like move the box actually ran well enough to play without frequent lag, whereas games with better graphics (and sometimes lesser) would run extremely choppy. also with the custom rom I tried to max everything, but whenever I did I found that programs that would normally run just fine ended up crashing within seconds of loading up. I couldn't get any videos to load properly. Besides that everything is laggy even in the home screen when swiping. I don't personally know how well this works as an e-book reader but I don't suggest this tablet for anything else. Rather I suggest purchasing an older smartphone with android that has wifi built in (they are around the same price) I am reselling this tablet elsewhere and instead have bought an lg optimus s which doesn't require any service to be used online (wifi).Read full review
