This is my first boar bristle brush. While it does produce a very thick incredibly rich lather, I found the bristles to be stiff and prickly. I thought they might soften over time and maybe they do. But I don't want to wait that long to find out because some days it felt like I was rubbing my face with sandpaper. Are other boar brushes equally stiff and prickly as I don't have any other comparison. I already had a synthetic bristle brush and it is pretty decent. I purchased it because I read reviews of foul odors emanating from some boar brushes. I gave this one a try because I already use Van Der Hagen products (shave soap and safety razor) and know they are of good quality and repute. I recently purchased a badger brush and am equally impressed as it produces a comparably rich thick lather, except the bristles are much, much softer and feel more comfortable on my face. I guess it's a matter of preference. I may try another boar brush brand down the road. But for now I'm sticking to badger.Read full review

This is my first time using a shave brush to apply shave cream. I remember my father using one. It does the job just fine. My only concern is that it is losing bristles. Not many at this time. I hope that it is just from the manufacturing process and is expected at first.

This is my first brush ever. But this and my new shaving cream has elevated my shaving experience by leaps and bounds. All shaving cans should just be thrown out the garbage. I still have to find out if it was the brush or the cream. I hope it is the brush. Excellent seller as well. Shipped it real fast and at a very good price. I couldnt find it at this price anywhere else online.

I knew it wasn't Badger Hair But, I have used some Boar Bristle Brushes and this one has the stiffest bristles I've ever put to my face. Ever after quite Hot and Soapy, it feels like I could stick the bristles through my jaw. Go for better. Your face deserves it !!!!

Definitely a bang for your buck... I paid nine dollars for two and they build an excellent lather. They also look very durable and resistant. The only downside is that they smell bad, I’m sure that is going to go away with use, I hope. Other than that I recommend them to anyone who’s can't afford expensive brushes.
