Gave it 4 stars because it's good not perfect. Bought this phone for mom for its simplicity and ease of use. It's user friendly for the elderly or those who doesn't need a smartphone. It has a nice big screen and stylish keypad for a basic phone. Other similar basic phones tends to be thicker and heavier with a smaller screen. This phone has a slim build even closed and lighter to hold. Very easy to setup out of the box and simple to transfer names and numbers. Also easy to activate service with service provider (Verizon). If you're looking for a simple phone for someone, yourself or even as a backup spare, this phone is a good choice.

I had one of these phones for years and it did everything I needed until my cat dropped it into his water bowl. Verizon refused to activate my new, replacement, Samsung Smooth phone. I presume that was because it's a 2G model. It's electronic design is at least fifteen years old. I switched to Consumer Cellular (it's cheaper), and bought one of their "Link" phones for $30 (new).

While I would like to think of my self as techno-literate, I'm not. However, the good news is that I bought a Verizon Smooth phone. It's easy to use, the basic features are straightforward and you can program in many more functions that I have yet to discover. The Smooth also feels good in my hand, it has nice big numbers on the display and I particularly like the prepaid feature with this phone, since I really don't use my cell all that often. Generally speaking, the Smooth is a good value for the money!
It's a phone. It was purchased to replace Grandma's old phone when it's battery died. It works, it's not too complicated for Grandma to be able to use, but the displays are somewhat small for persons of advancing age and failing eyesight. She doesn't send text messages, access the web, or check e-mail with it, but she could, if she knew how. Battery life is fair to good at 3+ hours of talk time, and the time to recharge is good but not great. The camera is acceptable for a phone, and the ringer is loud enough for her to hear. It's similar to her previous phone, (also a Samsung), so she didn't face a steep learning curve, or have to have every button explained to her before she could use it. She is happy with it, that is what matters.
the phone is quite decent for the price. It is very basic though, so don't be expected bells ans whistles. Clear voice and keys are easy to manage. Fits in the tiniest pocket. I would advise it for older people who might have problems with a complicated devise. My 80 year old father is very happy with it and that's why I bought it. Verizon reps are hesitant to say that these prepaid phones can be put on any existing line, they'd like to sell you another higher price or renew your contract but I activated it on line with no problem. Be careful that you don't pay too much though. They sell this one all day long for $20 but I didn't know it until i paid too much! pros: small, easy to read and bright colorful screen easy to use menu even for older people. Tiny and can fit in tiny pocket. casing is durable. cons: none as long as you know what you are getting very very basic (but good) phoneRead full review
