Thirteen track [absolutely] miraculous come-back CD for the almighty Van Halen. Myself, I like this album much better than I did their '1984' opus. About every track here showcases the true roots of the 'original' Van Halen - in full spirit, heart, energy and vibe. Couple of cuts here worth bragging about include the typical modern-day VH classic gem "She's The Woman", the total ass-kicking "As Is" and "The Trouble With Never" almost makes me feel like I want to rampage through the city - while pouring beer over people's heads. No 28 to 30 minute duration here - as with several of their earlier lp's. On 'A Different Kind Of Truth', you receive a full fifty-minute dose of old school VH - the way it was initially meant to be. Highly recommended.Read full review
Pretty good Van Halen music, after they had not made any new c.d.s for a few years back then (several years ago, now).

This is more or less old school David Lee Roth Van Halen. I was skeptical but was pleasantly surprised. Diamond Dave delivers and somehow brings out the best/worst out of everyone. It has that swagger and wittiness than the Van Hagar albums missed. If you like the earlier Van Halen you may like this too.
