I have a full sized Architect Swing Arm lamp - it, unlike the Urbanest, actually swings and stretches easily. The Urbanest does not. It should be titled an _Architect Swing Arm STYLE lamp_. It will stretch some, but once you have the lamp head where you want it, let it be. Stretching the base section feels as if the post will break. Raising/lowering the upper arm is easier. I've done it a couple of times to watch a movie on the PC monitor. The lamp puts out brilliant white light. It's heat is noticeable, but negligible. You can rest your finger on the lamp cover. If this was a halogen lamp, no way could you do that. The light is focused. The Urbanest unit uses a reflector that gives it a spotlight effect. With the head properly set, the keyboard is lit up w/o you being blinded. I think this is an awesome feature.Read full review

Perfect lighting for my computer board when the room is dark. I had one like this before for four years. I left it burning constantly and it finally gave out. I really love how it swivels and twists so that I can place light at any angle for my work without having to move the base. It is a really handy and convenient light. For a couple of years, I was so disappointed that I couldn't find another one like this and was so thrilled when I found one almost exactly like my first one. Just a small difference in the switch which is not on the base which, actually, the switch is better there anyway. In fact, I like these lamps so well that I ordered two, one for my roommate who had also wanted one, too.

Lamp puts out lots of light. We wanted to use it as a piano light on a Steinway upright and found it difficult to adjust the arm so the lamp head is below base level. Also, the tube that supports the lamp and slides into a receptacle tube on the base is very loose. If you pick up the lamp by the adjustable parts, the tube and wires come out of the base. Fixed that with a small hole and a tiny screw. Base is too light weight for full extension of the lamp so it tips. Fixed that with a brick on the back end. Our pianists all love the bright white light it puts out.

I use this as a bedside lamp, works great. Heavy enough base the cats don't knock it over, fairly bright yet can be tilted away so you don't get blasted in the dark...
