Unmasked Part 25 is a clever and hilarious British film that serves as a satire of slasher movies, particularly the Friday the 13th franchise about Jackson, a vision serial killer (equipped with a hockey mask) goes about brutally killing a group of party goers inside his house until he connects with the last survivor, a kindly blind woman named Shelly who quickly falls for Jackson. As a result, Jackson opens up and starts a relationship with her, keeping his notorious deeds a secret, as the two engage in romantic comedy-style moments that are laugh-out-loud HILARIOUS!. Thinks start to sour though when Jackson's serial killer father tells him he can never change who he is, and things get worse when Jackson resumes his killings on another batch of Shelly's friends. This shamelessly hidden gem of a film is a terrific watch and really does for slasher movies what Shaun of the Dead did for zombie movies, only many, many years earlier. Methinks this film was way ahead of its time in 1988, which could be the reason why it goes virtually unknown by the horror fan public, destined to dwell in VHS obscurity. This film DESPERATELY needs to make that leap onto DVD to be re-discovered by fans of horror and comedy. There's loads of gore and blood spilled amongst a decent body count, and some nice nude scenes to boot. Overall, a real gem. I implore any and all to seek this movie out if they can. Terrific film.Read full review
