Sometimes simpler is just better. No batteries, no hassles, just plug in and use. I have used these for a few years without any issues. Has redial, sound level, and ringer level features. Good enough for me.

This item is as simple as can be, which is why I bought it. I have 2 kids whom I do not feel that are ready for a cell phone yet. And in cases of emergencies, this phone will not fail on them. Cause it is directly powered by the existing phone line, no power outlet needed. Unlike cordless phones that many of us have in our homes now, during a neighborhood power outage, this phone will still work. Did I mention very easy to use?
If you're one of the millions still using LAND LINES, then this is a must-have for when the power goes out. If you have electronic wireless phones, they will be worthless during an outage. Plug in one of these PHONE-LINE POWERED units, and it will work JUST FINE even when the power is out. At 4 bucks, it's worth having a couple laying around for emergencies. AND, if you have trouble with your lines, you can just plug this phone in at the EXTERIOR JACK where your lines come in to make sure you have service and isolate the problem to your home.
My wife threw away all the corded phones we had, but we live in California. In case of earthquake, cell phones or cordless phones are not as reliable. I have had very bad experience with Uniden cordless phones in the past, but they should be OK with this kind of low tech phone. So, I gave Uniden a chance when I saw their attractive price. It has been working as it should... at least for a month now.
