Pretty much like the first movie, Under Siege, this is merely part two. Steven Seagal, again, finds himself the stopgap between America and a former mad scientist, Travis Dane, who is Hell-bent on revenge against the United States, and not even a little sympathetic about killing 60-70 million people or starting WWIII. All he cares about is making hundreds of billions of dollars in the process. Like anyone could pull this off and then just walk away and disappear. This time they all come together on a West bound train out of Denver, that will be hidden, out of radio communication and untraceable (BS) in the Rocky Mountains, for a matter of hours. Seagal is traveling with his niece. Travis Dane has a band of twenty or so mercenaries and a satellite controlling station that he designed to hijack a secret CIA satellite that really is a space weapon - that nobody knows about. With this weapon he can destroy airliners, nuclear power plants, and anything else you could think of. Teaming up with a young black porter on the train, Seagal begins his one-man assault on the hijackers. Throughout the ordeal, he gets shot through his shoulder with a hi-powered rifle, thrown off the train and miraculously clings to a cliff face, only to be able to get back on the train and continue his assault. He makes bombs, sends fax messages to the heads of the military, has running gun and knife fights with several terrorists, and saves everybody, all while eluding so many crack mercenaries. Finally, with his niece in arms, climbs up a rope ladder into a moving helicopter, all while on an exploding, speeding train, as it is colliding with another train carrying 800,000 gallons of gasoline. He stops Travis Dane's plan to blow up the entire east coast and beats everybody - all with a shoulder that has had a hi-powered rifle bullet go through it, and never even bleeds. This still was somewhat of an enjoyable movie. It had a lot of action, but it was more of a "Lets watch Steven Seagal karate-chop the bad guys, break necks, shoot villains (never reloading), and show everybody what a bad-ass he is." Anyone with an I.Q. over 70, attending this movie, will tend to look around just to see if there is anybody around who might recognize them in the crowd.Read full review
This was pretty good actually, I enjoyed Seagal, showed a bit of humour here in places, thought the train gave it a decent closed in setting, liked both Kurtwood Smith and Everett McGill doing what they do best. (Smith has played the worried Pentagon staffer before too, about the same way...) My impression of Bogosian was that he was a bit too wired at times in his portrayal but it worked just the same. Overall an enjoyable if not great action film, the sort Seagal should have made more of.
This movie has plenty of action to it. actors are engaging and interesting to watch. I like Steven Seagal in action in all of his movies.

Standard Steven Segal fare. Entertaining action. No academy awards here but that is not what we watch Segal for.
