Have used one of these for several years and it always worked well. Needed a second one to send Faxes on another computer and so bought another one.

I'm running Win XP and bought this to replace my USR 5693 USB Faxmodem that got fried and thought one with an on board controller would be better. Unfortunately I could not get this to connect any faster than 28.8k no matter what settings I changed. 28.8 was it, period. So I bought the USR 5635 USB Mini Faxmodem. This one doesn't have the on board controller. I plugged it in, dialed up and bang - 42k. Recently I managed a 45.3k connection. I wish I had something good to say about it. Being a US Robotics I didn't expect it would not work. If you need a modem with an on board controller the USR 5637 USB seems to have good reviews, if you don't this 5635 Mini works just fine.
It worked in my Dell Precision 3630 Workstation, W10, after the USR5638 and USR5670 did not. US Robotics has not responded on this issue.

USRobotics Performance Pro USR5610C (USR5610C) 56 Mbps Dial-Up Modem It came in the shink wrapped original packaging. I nstalled it into a computer that duel boots openSuse 13.1 Linux and Windows 7. Linux found and configured the drivers right away. The included driver cd only had drivers from Windows 98 to Windows Vista. USRobotics web site didn't provide a Windows 7 driver. However Windows update did install a driver. It now works great in both openSuse Linux and Windows 7.
Received quickly. Works great. Needed a replacement fax modem and this fit the bill. This line of modems from USR has always been excellent. These have the full modem functionality on the board, not the infamous "Winmodem" where the PC CPU has to provide the processing power.
