This is a native 720p TV. The information doesn't make that clear and it will do 1080i resolution, but not 1080p if that matters to you. The picture looks great though, even at the default settings. It looks even better after some tweaking. I think the sound on this unit is very good. It's a huge improvement over the tv it replaced. I am using this in a kitchen sitting area where it will not be hooked up to a sound system, so that is a big plus. The only negatives I have is that the bezel is large, making it a tight fit for my use, and the tv takes a few seconds to lock on signal when going from a standard def channel to a high def channel. Overall this is an excellent value for a tv of this size. I am happy with my purchase.
I bought this TV for a small Den in my house. It's football season and my wife and I were competing for the 50 inch in the living room. I bought this 32 inch toshiba tv and the picture is crystal clear sound is great. I really like it. As you can see my wife has gotten the 50 inch tv on most nights so I wanted something good if I was going to be watching it.
My model is actually a 32AV502RZ (the RZ replaced the R a few months back). I was in the market for a high-def set and lucked out when I came across this one at a rock-bottom "Black Friday" price a couple of months ago. I like the quick and easy setup, and the number of inputs (2 component as well as 2 HDMI, along with the older coaxial and red-yellow-white inputs). You may want to check for firmware upgradeability as well (my 32AV502RZ has a firmware upgrade available; I don't know about the 32AV502R, however). The only thing I didn't like about it, thankfully, I was able to fix. The blacks and grays in the picture were initially greenish (this really stood out when watching dark scenes in movies). Fortunately, it's not a problem with the set--rather, it's the factory settings for the picture that are the problem. If you're inclined to tinker with those factory settings, check out http://72.9.159.100/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1181087 for a couple possible solutions (disclaimer: you are doing so at your own risk--please read this board carefully and don't blame me or the board). All in all, the 32AV502RZ is one of the best bargains I ever had and I hope it lasts a long time.Read full review
At first finding a brand new Name brand lcd 32" tv for only 400$ shipped, I was very skeptic. Until I hooked it up and watched my first hour of HD programing. The picture clarity and colors are just amazing. This tv is worth atleast twice what I paid.
