Most likely will work for what it is specifically designed for...cutting holes. I do not recommend this product for hardwoods....I purchased it to cut out 3 1/2 inch wheels from 3/4 maple. Very slow...heated up the wood so much that it caused the maple to form cracks. I guess I could have cut the wheels even slower....but then...time is money...I did not have the time to mess around with this...ended up cutting the wheels on the band saw and finish sanding on disc sander...much faster. If you are cutting holes in softwood....than go for it...if you need to cut multiple holes in hardwood...maybe not the answer. Certainly not very good for cutting wheels (as you need to change the positioning of the cutting tool to get a flat running surface on the wheel.

Perfect circle.. I do have a drill press so it was easy to bring the bit straight down. I tested with a piece of 1/4" plywood with no problems. My project required 3/4" pine. Realize very quickly that you needed to lower the bit slowly or it would grab. Once I got the timing down it it a great job of 3/4" pine. The tool is well-made and I recommend it. Not sure how it works with hard wood like oak but did a great job with pine.

Solid, robust construction, but it didn’t perform well. Brand new tool, never used. I was cutting 3-1/2” holes and moving the arm and reversing the cutter to create 3/8” wide rings out of wengé. I managed to cut one ring of nine needed. On the second one, the cutter started making dust instead of cuttings. I sharpened it and it hasn’t worked since, so my project is shut down until I can find out how to fettle the tool.
