Overall I really like this set. I would never use them for tournament play but for just playing around in your game room, mancave, living room or bedroom they will do the trick just fine. They're more of a conversation starter than a professional set. Overall the construction is great but the flights don't seem to be cut, folded or bonded with much of a degree of accuracy. Also it would have been nice if they made them out of anything but what appears to be construction paper. At least that's the closest thing that I can liken them to. I don't have a scale of a micrometer to weigh or measure them, but to the the naked eye the points, barrels and shafts appear to all be the same length and roll on a table without any discernable wobble and they fly almost true through the air. It was easy enough to cut my own existing flights to match the basic shape of the ones supplied, and that removed the tiny bit of wobble while they were in flight. So aside from the flights these are a good buy as long as you have the patience and ability to make your own flights, and for that I must remove 1 star from my review. If only they had put a little more attention into the construction and materials used to make the flights I would have rated these 5 stars.Read full review

I'm just getting back into "darts." Thought that I'd get a set I would actually like to keep instead of a set that I would grow out off. These darts are much more difficult to throw than a regular dart. However, once I started to master these, my skill level improved quite rapidly. I then purchased a set of 22 gram darts with a much more modern profile. I couldn't believe my throws, extremely accurate with very tight groupings. Put that set away and went back to the Comets. This design was patented in 1937 and has never changed. Just get a set of "o" rings because the shafts tend to get loose on their own. Couldn't be happier.

Was very pleased to learn that Unicorn had re-released this (at the time) revolutionary set of 1937. Upon arrival, I was thoroughly impressed - everything about them is so authentic, even the inner box, that I really wouldn't know these from the originals (there may be some slight difference, but I'm not aware of any, unless perhaps the 2ba threads?). They look terrific and fly just fine. The weights are in line - my box is marked "medium," and the darts weigh 25 grams assembled, and each of the barrels weighs 22 grams. As a collectible, they can't be beat. I wouldn't use them as my primary "go to" set, though, because: 1) the flights are a light cardboard/stiff paper, and bend very easily; 2) the barrels are fat by modern standards, compared to a tungsten; and 3) I wouldn't want to see the barrels dinged by the point of a following dart. I believe these were reissued in 2012, and they seem to still be readily available at a very reasonable price (mine were about £25 with shipping). I would strongly recommend buying a spare set of flights, which are available for very little - as are the screw-top shafts. The fact that they are 2ba means one could also just use the barrels with modern shafts and flights, and keep the originals for display.Read full review
