Everyone has their favorite Elton John song. This collection is some of his best sung by some of the best. I love this CD. I had it years ago and had been looking forever it seemed to try and find it again. For me, the stand outs are Oleta Adams "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" and Jon Bon Jovi singing "Levon". Both ring every bit of emotion out of the lyrics. George Michael's cover of "Tonight" also can cause chills. I think this will be a great addition to the music collection of any fan of Elton John. I only wish someone like Enya or even Sinead O'Conner had tried to sing "Candle in the Wind". It could have been haunting but I guess no one wanted to tackle that one. Too bad. Perhaps Evanescence might try a cover some time.
I initially bought this on cassette when it was released back in the day, it disappeared from my car. It is so great to have it once again and it sounds awesome on disc

I was first introduced to this gem many years ago by a roommate. Taupin & John obviously have a plethora of hits from which to choose; the producers did excellent jobs both in choosing strong examples from their catalog and in finding the right artists to perform them. Usually a tribute album like this has several strong selections coupled with a few that have you scratching your head and wondering what they were thinking; not so here. This is the kind of album you listen to from start to finish over and over again and it still leaves you wanting more. While it's hard to single out favorites, I highly recommend listening to Sting's rendition of "Come Down In Time" and Bruce Hornsby's "Madman Across The Water." Definitely in the top three of my Desert Island Disks.Read full review
I love this album! I owned this as a cassette and am so glad to have it again as a CD. Every version of the songs on here (even Kate Bush's - yes...KATE BUSH's - "Rocket Man") are outstanding and give the listener a new way to enjoy these classic tunes. It truly gives you a new appreciation for the talents of John & Taupin. Seeing which song the artist chose is almost as fun as listening. Clapton's "The Border Song" rocks as does The Whos' "Saturday Night" (and you can understand the lyrics, too!). Joe Cocker, Jon Bon Jovi, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Oleta Adams, Phil Collins, George Michael...they are all on there, plus some others. The two stand-outs for me ahve to be Bruce Hornsby's version of "Madaman Across the Water" and Sting doing "Come Down in Time". This CD is something totally different but but familiar. ENJOY!Read full review
Some of the best music is music you haven't considered in years. Two Rooms is a prime example.
