TWEAK: Growing Up on Methamphetamines By: Nic Sheff This is a good book. Well written. If you want to read a fairly honest first person account of a young man with serious issues in Life, including a Meth addiction, then this is the book for you. It is sometimes hard to read and unless you are numb and without feeling as a human being you can not help but feel for Nic and hope that he will make it through treatment and come to terms with his issues and be healthy. I feel that he tends to blame others for his addiction at times (frequently) instead of accepting responsibility for himself but he gets there. I will admit that: I cried a couple times, I was frustrated that he would not accept help, I was disgusted at some of the things that he described (the abscessing if his arm). In summary a good book that should move you.Read full review
I heard about this story on Oprah and became extremely curious and interested. It was definitely not a let-down and never have I been so consumed by a book. I really could not put it down. It is extremely real and open as the author describes his thoughts, feelings, and experiences as he goes through relapses and trying to stay clean. I would reccomend this book to not only drug addicts and family members of drug addicts, but anyone. If you look at Nic Sheff's story with a sense of compassion and aren't too judgemental, it will open your eyes to the struggles of others and give you a deeper understanding of their pain. It is rather graphic and disturbing at times but this is only because it is reality.
Saw the movie beautiful boy and instantly wanted to read this book... I cannot wait for them to come out with a movie about this book... Will be the first in line to see it.. Also made me want to become and drug and alcohol councelor that much more..

I've read the first book, beautiful boy and this book Tweak I'm just starting. I would recommend these books to any parent. They are absolutely an eye-opener and very important for parents of teens that are using drugs. It really gets to your heart and brings tears to your eyes. The best books I've read in a long time and they are true stories. Please buy them, it's a must..... Thanks alot. Becky
This book is terrible! I read Nic Sheff's father's book, Beautiful Boy, and that was a great book. You can really sense how much he loves his son, so I thought I would enjoy getting to know him in Tweak. Not even close! I halfway think Nic is still on drugs writing this book. He jumps around so much and it just talks about him shooting up and having sex the whole time. I ended the book thinking he is this spoiled little brat who has an ego the size of San Francisco. Loser! Don't waste your time.
