What a great device. Works perfectly with my peavey delta blues amp. I can dial it back to a more manageable volume and it still seems to retain the pushed tube tone I love. I have owned a hot plate, webber attenuator, power brake, etc. This works as well as any of those high priced attenuators and is literally a fraction of the price. I highly recommend this. Keep in mind you have to have a fx loop on your amp that is fixed to 100% wet or can be adjusted as such. This Hot Box kicks a$$! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Love this little amp. Have used a Classic 50 for many years as my gigging amp. Wanted something smaller for the rehearsal space and some of the smaller clubs we play, yet wanted it sonically close to my Classic 50. The Classic 30 has beautiful cleans along with a nice range of overdrive tones from bluesy grit to classic rock crunch. Also has a nice spring reverb. The speaker is voiced nicely, without the ear-piercing highs I find in most Fender amps. The smaller cabinet still sounds full and round. Peavey gear is highly under-rated. It's pro-level, without the boutique price. During a show, our audience can't tell the difference between hand wired or printed circuit board. Peavey gear is well made. Years ago, our rehearsal space flooded and my Classic 50 was in water up to the chassis. It survived with just having to replace the power transformer - even the speakers survived. Years later, the only reminder is some fabric on the back panel that is slightly peeled at the edges.Read full review
I bought this amp because the seller said it had a noise problem in the drive channel and wanted to fix and resell it. It turned out the problem was in the seller's guitar ( not shielded properly). I decided to keep the amp because it is such a great sounding amp, it cuts through the mix so well at band practice. It is a 30watt amp that is really loud, but when turned down has great tube tone. Most of my friend's that have played the amp love it, and are using the clean channel with an overdrive pedal. I made up a footswitch and I switch back and forth between the two channels for my rhythm and lead tones. Just an excellent sounding amp, I love it so much that I bought a Peavey Delta Blues combo amp (same basic amp, but with a tremelo) with 2 10" speakers. Another winner!
For the money, this is a great all around amp - for practice or gigging smaller venues. Put a few bucks into it, & it's a jewell. Re-tube it with JJ's or something comparable, & ditch the stock Peavey speaker for almost anything else, & you've got a great amp that rivals any Fender in the same price range. So far, I don't care for the dirty channel, but I understand the "Blue Mod" will vastly improve that. Google it - it's on my to-do list. As of now, it takes pedals great, so I just use my ZenDrive when I want some snarl. Even better is the head version of this amp, but very hard to find. If you spot one on eBay, immediately click "Buy it now" - it will be gone quickly. I use one plugged into a cab with a 15" Weber FerroMax - sounds better than my beloved Peavey Delta Blues 15, and WAY easier to lug around!Read full review
If you can snag one with no issues for under $400 (including shipping) it's worth it. They have their own sound & sound best with the 2x12 cabinet made for the classic 30 head. Most of the problems I've encountered with them are related to cold solder joints on the tube sockets & hum issues usually solved by replacing or snipping off altogether the flyback diodes CR4 & CR6 (they are not needed for the amp to work) Removing the 3 boards folded over in a U shape can be tricky without breaking the hard wired jumpers, and there's a bunch. But I like them & now know their quirks to some extent after taking apart a few. They run very hot & I've found it best to keep a fan blowing on them. Rock & Roll!
