Nostalgic Game Boy users can satisfy their taste for a great 80s film with "Tron 2.0", a fun RPG that updates the Disney tale of a civilization living inside your computer. Set in the present day, Tron has been awakened from stasis to combat a virus that is spreading through the ENCOM system. Outmoded and outdated, Tron must battle through corrupted files to find the source of the infection. Players can choose from one of two game tracks: Tron or Mercury, a light cycle champ who notices that something is amiss. Along the way, players must also battle through minigames that involve hacking a firewall or bypassing terminal encryption. "Tron 2.0" uses a real-time battle system, meaning that enemies are in the field; there are no "random battles", which can be discouraging for some players. Perhaps the game's only downfall is the tracking, which can sometimes be shaky at best. The 3D environment takes some getting used to. By interspersing the gameplay with mini games, light cycle races and tank battles, "Tron 2.0" makes for a fun, albeit short, RPG.Read full review
I rally don't care for the lower quality graphics, but it is made for a small handheld system so you cant expect much there. I am a HUGE tron fan. I own both full size arcade games of tron. This gives a portable tron game to play and have fun with. It IS a lot of fun to play, and I am very glad I bought it. During the game play, you build up some mini-games. They were the original arcade games brought in to the handheld scene. I love it and would gladly recommend this game to all interested.
I personally bought it just to have a copy of the original arcade Tron games that this has. Played a little bit of the actualy game and newere mini games and all of that seems to be a bit sub-par. Tron 2.0 overall was a bit of a letdown especially to long time fans of the movie like I am. Luckily Disney did it right with Tron Legacy this past year, though I hear all of the games made for that movie aren't so good at all. Still, if you want a handheld version of the original Tron arcade games then I recommend this, but find it as cheap as you can because you may not want to even try the rest of the game!!!
I am an old school gamer. Having this game a few years after it orginally came out is sweet. Having the ability to play the old arcade version of the game in the palm of ones hand is very nostalgic. I recommend this game to all the mid to late 30's gamers. Be mindful that Tr2n is coming out very soon. Within the next 2 years. Jeff Bridges will be playing his character Flynn. It is rumored Bruce Boxleitner (Tron)wil be in it. Maybe they'll dig up David Warner character for a bit part.
