Trick Or Treat,a 1986 horror movie,is a much underrated movie of it's genre. The movie was the first to have heavy metal music as part of the film plot and the first not to have knives and stabbing weapons used.Rather, they used electrodes, which completely obliterated the victim leaving no traces. It also featured another first. Two people were actually killed through a TV set. The whole movie starts when Eddie Weinbauer(a.k.a.Ragman[Marc Price])is the target of taunts by the "ultra students" in his high school. He is obsessed with rocker Sammi Curr, who also was a student in the same high school. One day,his idol dies in a hotel fire and Ragman is devastated. When his DJ friend Nuke(Gene Simmons of KISS)gives him an acetate disc of Sammi's final recordings,Ragman discovers that there is a subliminal message meant for him by Sammi to help him get even with his tormentors.First,Ragman goes with it but later tries to back out of the plan. When it gets out of control,on the night of the annual Halloween dance at the high school, which is when the mayhem really begins,Ragman knows that he has to STOP Sammi Curr before it's too late because the whole human race is at stake.Ragman does this knowing that everybody tormented him.But he later realizes that revenge, even if some people deserve it,is not always sweet. The film has a surprising cameo by Ozzy Osbourne as a Televangelist(which was the butt of jokes back in the day on the late night talk shows)and some good performances by Marc Price(who played Skippy on Family Ties),Lisa Orgolini as Leslie and former Solid Gold dancer Tony Fields giving an over the top performance as the extremely evil rocker Sammi Curr.It also has an infectious and scorching Heavy Metal soundtrack and some decent,if not really enough, special effects. It all adds up to a horror movie that can be watched again and again and it doesn't have to be October 31st either. The point is that this movie is a classic that can be watched over and over again. Overall,Trick Or Treat is a much underrated horror classic and one of those rare masterpieces of modern horror if there ever was one. It's fun, musical and not too scary but it truly delivers. It also should be a part of any horror lovers film library.Read full review
Had rented it a while back, and thought the story was good. Ozzy's part is kind of small but he makes a good TV evangelist. Gene's role is also small, he plays a Radio DJ. It is a good Halloween movie. I didn't know it was available on dvd. So when I found it listed on dvd I figured I should get it before it is gone.
80s horror 2 me is great!this movie was great 4 its time.it is so bad its good! it has 80s metal at its best combined with skippy from family ties(marc price) as the not so hero!as far as cult classics 4 me this is a must 4 every horror collector. a high school metal head summoning his dead metal hero 4 revenge over bullies, until he loses contol of his dead friend n innocence is threatened.add in gene simmions as a wild dj n ozzy osbourne as(if u can belive)a minister against metal music, n it becomes the perfect cult classic cheesey horror that fans will love!
The soundtrack by Fastway has always been a favorite of mine. Love the cameos with Ozzy and Gene Simmons. Still have VHS copy but DVD is hard to find. Great nostalgia from 80s hair metal.

This is a very good value for a cult classic from when I was 16! It was my favorite movie because it was about heavy metal and horror! I have a pristine first pressing with the shrink of the Trick or Treat soundtrack vinyl LP and now at long last I have the DVD!
