The TopFlite XL2000 sand wedge is an oversized clubhead made of Titan Steel, which is often called carpenter or maraging steel. It is a tougher steel with a little more spring to it than regular 431 or 17-4 stainless steel. It can be adjusted for lie and loft. The wedge itself has a medium thick sole with both heel-to-toe and front-to-back camber (curvature). The topline is medium thickness, the grooves are very clear, defined, and ordinary cast u-grooves. The address position looks like a classic iron, just oversized. The grip is a good rubber, but the model was introduced in 2000, so by today an original grip might be getting hard. The shaft in both steel and graphite bear the TopFlite name, so it is impossible to know their true manufacturer. The club is OK for both sand and turf. The length on full swings is ordinary. The specs for this club are 56 degrees loft, 64 degrees lie, length of 35" for steel and half inch more for graphite, .155" offset. Basically the club is a very average sand wedge in design, visuals, playability, and total performance. It does what it is supposed to do without any "WOW!" factor. I would not hesitate to put it in play because it is a classic-looking, fully functional sand wedge, but I would not want to pay a premium for this club.Read full review
