After many years of buying the latest and greatest, I went back to my original Tommy's and couldn't be happier. They have a great top line and are so easy to hit. The feel is tremendous and they inspire confidence when you have them in your hands. Too bad the company has faded because these clubs were the standard in their day.

I had a set of 845s that I loved. But I gave them to my son because he loves them too. I had always wanted to get the 855s, so I got these and could not be happier. To me, they are better than any comparable club made today. They have a great feel and just provide a great sense of confidence over the shot. I would recommend these clubs to anyone, I love them!

The 855s are a forgiving club that would be ideal for a beginning golfer. Being one of the first oversized irons these 855s have a cavity back and larger head which make them more forgiving than blades. They usually can be found at a bargain price. These clubs have been around for many years and are still popular.

The 855s irons are a slightly oversize cousin to the 845 Silver Scot irons, which I also own. The 855s has a progressive offset, larger sweet spot and is more forgiving on mis-hits. It is an excellent game improvement iron. Low handicappers would probably appreciate the smaller 845 for it's ball control abilities. For used clubs, it's hard to beat the 855s. Typically, you can find a decent used set for less than half the cost of a set of used Ping i3 Oversize, IMO, the "holy grail" of used game-improvement irons.
Well, to start off,I am a +14 handicap golfer. I usually play with the Tommy 845HB irons (which have significantly helped my game already; I highly recommend them for the beginner to intermediate golfer). Today, I decided to try out my dad's old clubs (855s); I shanked my drive on the first hole leaving me roughly 200 yards shy of the hole(short par 4). With the 855 4iron I placed the ball 5 feet from the pin; I counted it as luck. The very next hole, I had a similar effect with the 7iron from 145yds; I couldn't say whether or not that was luck so I hit another and put the second shot within 10 feet. At this point I loved these clubs, but I wasn't done yet. On the third hole (a par 3, 155yds) I holed my tee shot with a weak 6iron. That accounted for my first hole-in-one ever! Now, to make a long story short, I finished the first nine holes at -1; I have never before done that. These irons hit more truly than any other club I have hit and that is a long list. Currently, I am looking for a set of 855s on ebay. Buy them, use them, love them!Read full review
