Tokko is not the average anime. It was developed for an adult time slot on TV and is very graphic in blood spray, though not so much in the attendant carnage - due to the pecularities of Japanese TV censors. There is some depicted nudity, but that is not the focus of the story. This production differs from the manga as explained in the interviews with the production staff contained in the extras. Although only thirteen episodes, the character development was not lacking. The story moves along at a brisk pace but the ending seemed too brief, as if another episode or two were condensed to fit the TV season. The ending leaves plenty of opportunity for a follow on series; however, none has been announced since 2003 when this series was released. I was drawn to this project by the plot synopsis - rookie cop investigates the murders of his parents and other occupants of his appartment complex. I was glued to my seat by the character interplay, generous amount of action scenes, the ever present mystery begging to be solved and a well knit and fast paced plot that seems to have well benefited from a thirteen rather than 26 episode length.Read full review
Tokko has been described as one of the most violent animes in existence. I am not sure that is true (Doomed Megolopolis may be more violent, but I haven't watched in a while) but it is pretty intense for the most part. To lighten the tone between slashing creatures with swords, there is some sibling comedy that is almost too precious. The amimation itself is not perfect, but the story line makes up for that. When I first saw Tokko on SyFy, I was hooked--but knew I was missing at least half the story. So I got on eBay and bought the whole thing so I could see it subbed instead of dubbed. It is much better (like most anime is) subbed. It is definitely worth the money I paid for it.
was impress the story line is great great voice actors over all a wonderful anime to own even know it is rather short for a anime its still worth checking out & owning

I decided to buy this series after being introduced to it by watching the first episode online, it was my anime`-loving Dad that told me about it! One episode is all it took to get me pumped about this series, and I was not dissappointed!!! Well, besides the typical open-ended ending, as is common in anime` series. This series is highly recommended! Tokko is action- packed from start to finish, it's also truly hilarious, and sometimes very serious...Oh yea, and GORY, really gratuitously gory! Rejoice anime` fans, and enjoy!
Tokko is a great action anime series, with well drawn characters and interesting plot, pretty much a sci-fi, creature-feature lover's dream; however, that being said, this is very much an adult themed show and it is not edited as on TV, so if there are little kids you don't want to hear cursing, or those who are squeamish about blood or semi-nudity, this is not the animated feature for them.
