What don't I like would be a shorter question to answer. Cameron's are the finest putters anywhere. I had been looking at the Newport 2's off and on for a couple of years. They felt great, but I couldn't bring myself to pay $300+ for a putter. I saw the Newport 2 Detour on Ebay and loved the extension in the back. Plain and simple, I love this putter. Solid feel, confidence over the ball, good roll and consistent as anything I've ever seen. EASY to line up on your target line. It took a round or two to get used to the weight on the back as I have used an Anser all my life which is very similar to the Newport 2, so the setup was the same. The only thing I might change would possibly be to lengthen and straighten the extension on the back of the putter. It is slightly curved (not enough to notice during putting unless you are staring right at it instead of your ball, but one side seems a little shorter than the other because of it) in order to get your putter head on the correct arc/swing path. Great idea which I see really helping some golfers, but I go straight back and straight forward with my putter. Also, the golfers that need that reminder and guide for their putting probably aren't going to be playing with a Scotty Cameron putter in the first place.Read full review
The weighting on this putter is amazing. I have never felt anything like it. I used Mallet style putters until now (odyssey hawk, Taylormade Rossi). I was intimidated by the blade putters but I read that Scottys were the best of the best (Tiger and Ricky use them, right?) so i took a shot in the dark. The reviews were right. The grip is very slender (as I have played the oversized for 15 years) but the feel and pendulum action on this Newport 2 detour is great. The websight says that it promotes a "arc style" stroke but I have no problems with my straight swing using this putter. Feel is enhanced with the ball jumping off the face. No leaving these putts short. If you can pick this putter up for under a C-note then I suggest giving it a try. Besides the screaming orange SCOTTY CAMERON putter cover is worth the looks you will get.Read full review
This mallet type putter has more technlogical engineering than any of the other mallet-type putter Cameron has done with exception of the Kombi. I like the idea of short stroke (less room for the off-line hit) and the loaded wait in the inertial hit to get that ball to the hole. I liked the idea that this Detour was a Circle T putter, already calibrated by Camerons' Shop and sold on eBay far below any of the other Circle T putters. I owned the stock Detour 2 putter and used it for about 6 monthes but ther is lot to say for the weighting of this Circle T. Try one and you will see. Thanks...Rick
was playing never compromise putter for years. This Cameron is perfect for those twelve footers and the putt holds the line in a manner that makes you a believer in this sophisticated technology. For 75 bucks this putter is on another level. There may not be that much difference in quality drivers, but this is not true with the flat stick. This is an upgrade for anyone using Odyssey, Ping or like putters.
Great feel off the face and easy to keep on line. I owned this putter a couple of years ago and I have gone through everything from see more putz, odyseeey, nike, taylor made, and even tiger shark. Hands down my favorite so I decided to buy it again.
