I played a round of golf today with this putter for the very first time and I had 33 putts for the round. I find it to be deadly accurate within 3 feet and easy to keep within 2 putt range inside of 18 feet. It is easy to control speed on downhill putts as well. I am, however, having a difficult time controlling distance in the lag putts beyond 25 feet and because I have rather large hands, I can not deal with the puny size grip. I am going to move to a larger grip, continue my practice regimen and see whether it stays in my bag.
I decided to buy this putter because I collect Scotty Cameron putters. I just love the Newport style. I have 7 different Newport style Scottys and this is the best one I've owned. The feel is excellent and allows you to putt aggressive. Distance control is easy. New appearance prevents me from raising the toe during my puts. Also, the grip is tacky enough. This is the first Scotty that I didn't have to change the grip to an Iomic grip or a Ping grip. Also the cover is the best in design. I would watch out for the grip because Scotty is notorious for putting damaged covers with nicks and cuts on it. Make sure you examine it and return it to Scotty if damaged. Love the California Monterey name.
For the meticulous avid golfer the Scotty Cameron putter is the top on the line. I’ve been an avid golfer for over 20 years and tried more putters than I can remember...blade, mallet, inserts, creative designed putters, PING, Callaway, Taylor Made, Odyssey, and others; the Titlist Scotty Cameron California Monterey Putter without a doubt has proven to be the best for me. This putter is top quality from grip to toe, it lines-up perfectly, hits solid, yet has a soft feel with excellent feedback, a very smooth feel. This is a lifetime putter for me. You can’t go wrong with a Scotty Cameron Putter.
Scotty Cameron putters are one of the most prestigious golf products in the world. These putters are all machine milled for the truest feel, weight, and roll on the market. I highly suggest spending the money on the club that you use the most during your round. You WILL NOT, be disappointed, I promise you that.
Excellent balance and feel. I have tried many putters from different manufactures but the 2010 Cameron Monterey is the best I have ever tried. In 2 months of use, I have dropped my putt's per green from 1.89 to 1.82. This doesn't sound like much but I suspect I will be in the 1.7 range in another month. From 35 putts per round to now 31 to 32 per round. My goal is to get to the 28-30 per round which I know will lower my handicap from 12 to 10 or below. I will be playing this Scotty for many years.
