I bought this album because I can not get enough of Hank III!!! I used to say all the time that I didn't like country and I bought Hank III's latest album just for fun (was on sale on the release day at BestBuy) and I was absolutely blown away!!! I quickly bought his 2 other albums and I have been listening to them literally almost every single day since (especially when I'm in my truck!) I think I've only listened to this album one time... maybe that's not enough to judge it, but I simply wasn't impressed. I don't like Jr that much and it definitely isn't quite the same Hank III that sings today! Original Hank is good, but I'd rather listen to one of his own albums and not something that somebody manufactured. Overall, if you're a fan - you should probably check it out. If you're just curious, start somewhere else. Hank III's Lovesick, Broke, and Driftin or maybe a Hank Williams Greatest Hits... I'd stay away from Jr unless maybe he does something with Kid Rock.Read full review
I am an avid fan of Hank Williams Sr. and like various songs presented by Hank Jr. I do not know much about Hank the 3rd. which is one of the reasons I purchased this item. The bottom line is that the name Hank Williams is an iconic name in the music business and stands as such today. When I was living in California in the 80's, I remember well receiving phone calls from Merle Kilgore regarding Hank Jr's nomination as Entertainer of the Year through the Academy of Country Music. I voted for Hank Jr. because he deserved it. I will forever support the Hank Williams name in the music business because these guys work hard and love the music they present. All of the Hanks are down to earth and have made their place in country music because they did not always cater to the "powers" in the music business. Thank God for the independent nature of these guys....all of them! Charlie FrederickRead full review
Time blurred when listening to this CD. Three generations of singer/songwriters interpreting the same song. Genetic artistry. Even if you are not a true country and western fan-this CD is worth your time. My favorite artists are Hank Williams Sr. and Hank Williams Jr. The grandson's twist on the cold, grey tomb song was very interesting.
This is the first appearance of Hank Williams III. He may not want anything to do with this album, but being a fan of all 3 Hanks...I think it's a pretty good album. The technology is pretty amazing, how they got all 3 singin' together. Although it would have been a lot better with just III and Sr. Sorry, Jr. You should pick it up if you're interested in some modern sounding Hank Sr. tunes, or if you're interested in some early III. He sure don't sound like this any more...
Like the music of the 3 Hanks have also been a Hank Williams fan
