I decided to pick up this title sight-unseen on a whim since it was only a $1 on HD-DVD and my HD-DVD player was hungry for a new disc to spin. Actually I've been pleasantly surprised by this little-seen or heard-of film. It's not for everyone - it's got a very deliberate (i.e. slow) pace but is a poignant story about the the sudden loss of a father and how the hole that is left slowly has to be rebuilt by his friends and family. The always excellent Benicio Del Toro plays a recovering heroin addict who finds a reason to turn his life around when his best friend dies and he moves in with his family, presumably to help renovate an unfinished room but in the end to help fill the hole left by his best friend on his family. The movie reminds me in a lot of ways of 21 grams and Babel (the time skip/out of sequence thing told in flashbacks.) The scenes involving Del Toro's character going through heroin withdrawal are some of the most disturbing I've seen since Trainspotting. Anyway, it's a really good film you probably haven't heard of that is worth a watch, especially on HD since it's so cheap. HD-DVD quality is good but nothing reference level, since it is mostly a moody drama without a lot of SFX or bright visuals.Read full review
An excellent picture. Beneto gave an excellent performance with Halle Berry. Very moving and touching and kept you enthralled throughout the movie and on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. A must see movie.

benicio del toro, halle berry, david duchovny. need i say more? doesnt even feel like you are watching a movie. story draws you in and plays with your heart strings.
It is a movie about real love and compassion. I have seen it several times and wanted it for my collection.
