I purchased These Happy Golden Years for my daughter because I fondly recall reading it as a child. I have picked up most of the Little House books used, and have never had a problem with reading a used book. When I was not able to located this title at a local flea market, I turned to e-bay. Even with shipping, it cost less than buying a new book and chopping down more trees for it. I hope to be able to pass the collection on to another girl when my daughter outgrows it. The Little House series is a story of an idealistic life in the late 1800s. Many girls learned what the know about the trials pioneers faced by reading these stories by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I have been gifting the whole series for a great-granddaughter. She loves them as much as I did. This is even more special in that Laura Ingalls Wilder visited my classroom in Los Angeles when I was in fifth grade. I remember her as a very tiny, little old lady dressed in a long black coat. It would have been about three years before she died as I'm now 75.
