Just beginning this book after reading the 1st volume. I've enjoyed many of Morris' books, and this one measures up well so far. Buying used on eBay is a great way to pick up books you'd like to read at a great price. This is not a library-quality edition, as there is a little warping in the front cover and first 30+ pages, but it's not so bad that it makes the book sit funny on the shelf or anything like that.

This is a great biography of Theodore Roosevelt, our bigger-than-life President. He fought in the Spanish-American War with his troops, The Rough Riders, was a famous outdoorsman, a family man and a good politician. I really enjoyed reading this!

I started off reading this Book from the Library and decided to buy My own copy. The Book is about the 26th President of the United States; Theodore Roosevelt. Not an biography of His whole life it starts off with the assassination of President McKinley; so the book is about Roosevelt’s Presidency, the things He did, how He accomplished them, how his supporters helped and the general political situation during his time. Think of recent Presidents and think of this story of what Theodore Roosevelt did when Ranching during His "Cowboy Times": His pack of Dogs had chased down a Mountain Lion and Theodore jumped off His Horse Knife in Hand and Stabbed the Mountain Lion to death. We don't have Presidents like that any more. Clealy one of our most Dynamic Presidents.
This book by Edmund Morris is very detailed and gives the reader a great insight into Teddy's personality. It opens on the day he is catapulted into the White House by the assassination of the president, McKinley. A brief synopsis is given of the earlier book by Morris, and shows how Teddy used his power to transform the park system in the US to save the land for generations to come. It covers the difficulties encountered when acquiring the land for the Panama Canal, and many other policies that Teddy initiated. I found it fascinating and I think others will too. Highly recommend this book.
