Robert Conrad [James West] and Ross Martin [Artemus Gordon] were the perfect post-Civil War U.S, Secret Service partners in the 1960's 4-year run of The Wild Wild West TV series. The show was not even losing audience share when it was cancelled. Believe it or not, its cancellation was a network sop to Congressional protest against TV show violence. The show had terrific chemistry between Conrad and Martin, great villains (Don't miss Dr. Miguelito Loveless played by Michael Dunn!), infernal and diabolical machinery, great brawls (Conrad did most of his own stunts) and a fantastic steampunk vibe. I loved this boxed set, complete with some episode introductions by Conrad and very interesting and informative extras re the series' production, music, etc. [Robert Conrad was almost not cast because he was thought at 5'8" to be too short...] Also check out Wikpedia subjects: The Wild Wild West TV series, Robert Conrad, Ross Martin [born in Poland, spoke seven languages, had law degree from American University, etc.]. This was a great buy on my part, and could be a great buy on your part, too! Read full review

Robert Conrad made 60's teenybopper hearts throb as the dashing James West rehearsing two kung fu inspired fight scenes per episode and doing his own stunts throughout. Ross Martin really played the frustrated Shakespearean sidekick Artemis Gordon brilliantly, providing a much needed foil to handle exposition in what was a very plot heavy series with many visual and auditory gimicks copied by later network series of all kinds. Most delightful: we get to root for the best TV villian in all of broadcast history: the diminutive genius of Dr. Miguelito Loveless, played to almost uncanny perfection by the equally brilliant Michael Dunn in a dozen episodes of the four year run of the show. This is just plain good old fashioned entertainment. I was a teenager when this series was airing on CBS. By today's standards it is pretty tame with regard to sexual themes but it has lots of action with bigger than life villians and plots that combine James Bond 007 with Gunsmoke or Have Gun Will Travel Rawhide and Bonanza. Most cannot take the timelines too seriously because some of the gadgets seem a bit ahead of their time for the 1870's but it is all great fun and never dull. From the tricked out train that the heroes travel on to the fantastic use of technology that both the bad guys and the good guys use, this series has it all. This HAS to be the highlight of the Ulysses S. Grant administration! James West and Artemus Gordon rule The Wildest of the West and Westerns!Read full review
This complete DVD set includes all of the shows from the series from the late 1960s called "The Wild Wild West". What makes it so great is to hear the star of the entire series comment on each episode just before it plays for you once again in your home. The box is well designed in that the DVDs are encased in two seperate gun holsters that Jim West would wear in the series. The colors and the scenes from this series are very vivid and come back to their former life when they first showed on television. If you have never seen this show before I highly recommend just buying this set, which will give you all of them, including the first ones which were in black and white originally. The stunts that the main character has to pull are at times very breath-taking and leave you on the edge of your seat for the entire series as he captures many different types of criminals and escapes many traps set for him as a secret service agent fro the US in the late 1800s. This is a great set and I know that you are gonna want to watch these episodes over and over again.Read full review

This was ordered as a birthday present from my parents to me. These WWW series hold a special significance to me because as a child, I would NEVER miss an episode with my grandfather !! He has been deceased for over 30 years now, and I am now a grandfather myself. I hope to share these fantastic episodes with my grandchildren as he did with me each week during the CBS broadcasts.
