I bought this for my 87 year old father, who loves Jackie Gleason. It's getting harder for him to see and hear these days, but he really enjoyed this DVD. He said, "That kind of humor never ages." Most of the cuts from this DVD are from the early 1950's, and they're not the best of anything. But they ARE Jackie Gleason and adequately represent what his shows were in that era. There is some duplication from one part to the next, but not bad. This one is good for historic perspective or nostalgia, but I doubt if anyone who doesn't know Jackie Gleason would appreciate it as much.
By today's standards, Ralph Kramden would be labeled abusive and a candidate for Dr Phil's intervention. Back in the early 1950's, he was hysterically funny, a caricature of the typical husband who tried to rule the roost but didn't quite convince his wife. We enjoyed the show then and enjoyed seeing some of the early clips again. Thanks to other reviews, I didn't expect full episodes, just "the best." Video quality is not great on some clips but much better on others, understandable when you consider the original celluloid media. We especially appreciated the commentary and subtitles. Fun to see all the actors young and vigorous again. I'd recommend this time capsule to those who want to remember TV's earliest days.
Great

Was hoping the DVD contained full episodes of the Honeymooners. Instead it was 3 1/2 hrs of documentary and only 1 full episode.
