This classic toy story where a Velveteen Rabbit wishes he were real will delight your young child from the front cover to the very back and all the pages in between. From the back cover: “Real isn’t how you are made. It’s a thing that happens when a child loves you. More than anything else, the Velveteen Rabbit wants to become real—just like the wild rabbits he’s seen hopping in the woods. But can the Boy help make the Rabbit’s wish come true? A picture-book version of a classic, beloved story.” This First Scholastic Printing 1990 softcover version was specially adapted for younger readers. Illustrated by Elizabeth Miles, the pages are brimming with colorful, life-like illustrations. What happens to well-loved, worn-out old toys when there’s nothing left to love and hug, when the fur’s rubbed off, and the innards are sticking out from the broken stitches? Well, you guessed it . . .the nursery magic Fairy comes to the rescue! Poof—just like that, they become Real. Whadduya know? . . . Toy Heaven! Your child would just love for you to HOP to it and buy this book!Read full review

After seeing the movie, my kids decided that they wanted to have the book as well. The book is well written and easy for my kindergardner to read. If your child likes to read, this would be a great story...with a wonderful ending. I liked it enough to purchase the movie as well.
The book cover came in with many wrinkles and crinkles. Other than that, the book was fine. I love the book, The Velveteen Rabbit, which is why I purchased it.
