Most of the show's songs were either cut or abridged. Still the movie ran over 2 hours. And the first number (and the big hit of the show and played under the story throughout the movie) was (for some reason) cut down hugely - the counterparts sung by Molly and the three boys was almost completely eliminated. And (again, for some reason) Debbie Reynolds talked the song instead of singing it. This almost ruined the whole movie for me. But the dancing in the two main numbers was fantastic (I didn't want it to end), the love between Molly and Johnny was so obvious and beautiful (especially his for her) and all the actors were so good, I loved the movie and would recommend it to anyone. Meredith Willson's songs (songwriter for The Music Man, too) were great.

Reynolds excellent as is Presnell. Very good entertainment. Real Molly was mean and cantankerous. She and Johnny had been divorced over a decade when Titanic went down. At the time, Johnny said, “Of course she survived! She’s too damn mean to just drown!” But a really fun musical, beautifully photographed and one of the last extravigant MGM musicals. Very enjoyable.

I always call this movie The INCREDIBLE Molly Brown. It is a very entertaining movie that portrays an actual person from history. I will have my daughter watching this movie when she gets a little older as I had my sons watch it when they were younger. The life lessons in this movie are great. I love the quality and the way it keeps my interest.
