This book had my rapt attention right from the first page. The storyline revolves around the pending execution of a man who says he's innocent but no one believes him. As the story plays out, it is discovered by his shady but effective defense attorney that he is in fact innocent but has been railroaded into a false confession so that the prosecutor can put another notch on his career gunbelt. The novel is unquestionably a page-turner, made even more so when the prisoner is actually executed midway in the book--and one wonders what on earth could still be left to tell. But Grisham has a lot more to tell, and it becomes one of the most amazing novels I have ever read dealing with the weaknesses of the judicial system. If you are looking for a book that will make you think twice about judicial fairness, then you will definitely find this book one you will enjoy reading.Read full review

What a WONDERFUL story full of twists and turns. I've read many John Grisham novels but this one is my favorite. It catches you from the first page to the last.
