This book is a good resource for anyone interested in learning more about the history of search on the Internet. It takes a biographical approach following the key innovators that contributed to the development of modern search products. However I agree with wwhsu that it is not as well written as one would hope. Also if you are an avid reader of John Battelle's Searchblog you may find the book less interesting.
An important book on history of the internet search industry. Not exactly well written but there is no other resource that has the detail nor the context of this book. Really a requirement reading for anyone in the technology and media industry as Google and search advertising in general has become this huge industry driving such business practices as pay per click advertising, contextual advertising, affiliate programs, search engine optimization, and the rise of so called micro-entrepreneurship.
