This is without a doubt the best of the Scarlet Pimpernel movies produced since the B & W versions of yesteryear. The movement is fast, acting excellent and it is well written. Although it is different from the series of books written by Baroness Orczy, the spirit of the books is present. We used to to help our 9 year old daughter understand the excesses of the French Revolution for her history classes. How can you go wrong with Jane Seymour? Unfortunately, it is no longer being copied and sold.
I purchased the Scarlett Pimpernell for my husband's birthday. This particular version was his favorite, however, we couldn't find it anywhere after years of searching for it, until I found it on eBay. Imagine my delight when I was able to, not only buy it for my husband, but was able to purchase a brand new one that had never been opened! The service was fast and accommodating, arriving in plenty of time for my husband's birthday. Now I'm looking for another rare old time favorite; hopefully I'll find it before Christmas! Thanks.
This is a classic romantic movie starring Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. It's very short (90 minutes or so) and the pace moves quickly. If you like the two stars and the French Revolution, this movie's for you. The villain is played perfectly by Ian McKellan. This movie is a favorite of mine and I'm delighted to have the video to watch while I work out. I've been looking for ages to see it on tv and one day realized I should just buy it on ebay--be careful though, there are a lot of foreign copies and I'm not sure the quality is that good--if you like the movie, pay up and get a legitimate copy--you won't be disappointed.
New, sealed, very good bargain and an excellent film.
