We are doing this book as a study in our Sunday school class. It is not only for postors, but definitely should be required reading for every church member and/or attendee. Rick Warren gives guidance as to what NOT to do as well as excellent ideas for church growth. I was fortunate enough to help start a new church 18 years ago and wish that I had known about this book at that time. That said, however after 18 years of church growth in our congregation this author has excellent ideas that can still be introduced into our church and as a Sunday School class of about 25 people, we are planning to present its views and ideas to our Administrative Committe when we have completed the book, to hopefully grow our church further for God's Kingdom.
Warren is very clear that you should not try to make a carbon copy of Saddlebrook Church. But his advice on how to run a seeker friendly church is valuable to any church leader or passionate lay person. It's funny when you think about some of his advice. You read it and it seems so obvious. Sometimes we just need someone to tell us. I highly recommend this book to someone who wants to see a change in their church, particularly one who has a heart to reach out to the community and make a positive impact for Christ.
Must read if your a pastor or work in a church
