I've always been a fan of this movies, since my first viewing, when I was an adolescent. While I really enjoyed seeing it again, it just wasn't as good as the original version. The costumes were too fancy and over exaggerated, and the characters acting left a lot to be desired.

My wife liked it, but she enjoys sap like Bonanza and 2nd rate remakes. I'm the type that usually is disappointed in sequels (Matrix or Star Wars etc.). I'm not hard to please loved Lord of the Rings despite director's liberties. This movie however stunk, not even close to Mark Twain's story; in fact a new story line is introduced for whatever reason? If you want to watch the best version watch it as the original 1930's B&W classic, loved that one. This ones for those that like Lifetime afterschool specials as versions of the classics.
Prince and the Pauper is a warmly-presented, innocent film enjoyable for all ages. It is a tale of two boys who look remarkably similar – one born to the King of England, the other born to a drunken, abusive father in poverty. Unknown to others, the boys trade places, and each experiences the striking differences of the other’s life. The events in this story are cleverly portrayed. The plot is intriguing with a good number of twists. It is a quality film with good acting, music, and props. I highly reccomend this film.
Excellent Movie!!! Even though it's an older movie, it's values of right and wrong, definitely stands the test of time!!!

I rented both this DVD via IMDB plus the Errol Flynn version. This one was much better!
