This book is impressive in appearance and conception. Unfortunately, the weight of the book doesn't match the promised weight of knowledge. Besides being of only one side of the theological argument, something the "other side" is equally guilty of, this volume is more of a basic christian college compendium than a study in seminary-level scholarship. It should be obvious to anyone reading its premise that it would be nigh impossible to fulfill its intended aim in one volume, at least with any depth. It's more of a tease, a whetting of the evangelical appetite. If you have the money and desire to pretend you're reading seminary stuff, but this book.
This book is a great resource for any person who wants to become knowledgeable of religion and spirituality!

While far from providing an in-depth theological study, this book offers a wealth of introductory theological info on a variety of subjects that one might have to purchase several books to find. It does not live up to it's name, but it does make for good reading if you desire to learn as much about your (Protestant!) faith as possible and don't know where to begin.
I never received a Master's Degree from a seminary, so I can't compare the book to a degree. It is helping fill in some gaps in my own studies. I find it enjoyable, easy to read and helpful. A pastor with a seminary Master's degree may think it trite, I can't say, but to me it is helpful.
Great purchase.
