I had seen most of the series back when I had cable. I'm glad that I purchased this because now I am able to watch it whenever I want. While it is absolutely informative and educational, it unfortunately also very much a Baby Boomer production. It has a bad habit of repeating itself way too many times. I suspect this is to allow for as many commercials as possible, as well as to make what is possibly a couple of hours worth of information into multiple hours. If all of the repeats were removed, there would probably be a good hour or maybe two of good information. I still like it and recommend it. Just be prepared to hear a lot of the same things over and over.

This fascinating history of the original development of corporate America immediately following the Civil War reveals the reasons for the Sherman Anti-Trust Act that, while in effect towards the later parts of this history, was largely prevented from its implementation by the corporate owners who, although they hated each other (well, they were envious of each other) eventually banded together to BUY Presidents who they expected to allow them to continue unabated until after one presidential assassination. It is a TRUE account of the facts albeit condensed and leaving the viewer that actually cares to look deeper into the specifics. But it WILL lead intelligent individuals to knowledge that will provide understanding of today's politics.

bunch of cry babies will say that it's not 100% accurate; oh well, if you're not a college history major who cares! and if you were a college major you wouldn't be buying these dvds. Sorry, internet trolls always have something to say. It's good enough and it really gets you engaged into the stories. buy it

While we knew this would be dramatized, we've been able to add it to our homeschool U.S. History class this year to make these men come more alive to our teens. My son really enjoys watching this and learns more of who helped shape our country and how they got there.

This DVD collection takes on a journey from the time of the railroad to the first automobile. Also talks about the beginnings of the American Workers Union. I had no idea Rockefeller, Carnegie, Morgan and Vanderbilt were in competition with one another.
