The story (for those of you who don't already know) is about 8 people (7 east Europeans and 1 American) who escaped from Stalinist labor camp in Siberian labor camp. Its a narration of an Epic journey by these escapes who walked south (without proper clothes, shoes or food) instead of east or west to avoid capture. This took them on an Epic journey through Siberia, Gobi desert, Tibet, and then finally to India so that they can get home to their Eastern European countries and the USA. It is an awe inspiring account of hardship and human endurance and spirit. I bought it to keep, so that I can listen again and again about human determination. And also for my children to hear what people can endure if they have the right spirit. The reader was able to narrate the audio book alone, with appropriate tone and reading style, which is missing in many audio books. The subject matter and quality of narration is excellent!Read full review
