One of the most underrated, iconic movies of the 80's. It was a box-office failure at the time, but this gem has garnered a rabid cult fan base. Starring Helen Slater and Christian Slater (no relation) as brother and sister, who go from being bullied, and nearly taken advantage of by the bullies perv father, transform into cult icons. They are just standing up for what's right, and what's fair. The teens want what's due, the $608 for their broken scooter, and not a penny less. A sort of homage to 'Joan of Arc', The Legend of Billie Jean is a must-own. Stellar soundtrack featuring Pat Benatar (who was the reason this film was help up so long from DVD release). For whatever reason, Pat is ashamed of the film, and wouldn't allow the expensive licensing of her two featured songs. Quietly though, this film has gotten a DVD-R treatment (OFFICIAL) along with a number of other films that are not available on DVD otherwise. It even has an official commentary soundtrack from Helen Slater and Yeardley Smith. The menu is barebones, and the film transfer is actually better on Vudu, only because DVD is limited to 480p, and Vudu has a 1080p version of the film. However, those who are fans of physical media should scoop this one up. A great classic "undiscovered" treasure for some of us, and a great film for anyone to watch. Even with it's southern overtones (takes place in a small town in Texas), this film and its message will reach any age, gender, race or class of person. Entertaining, funny at times, thrilling and suspenseful, heart-wrenching, emotional and inspiring. I just finished watching TLOBJ and it is Awesome. Takes me back to a simpler time before all this technology and having to always upgrade to the next big thing. Great Movie. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it. Fair Is Fair!!
