I bought this book based upon the reviews I found online about it. It really does live up to its Awesome reviews. Though its not really for beginners, but every beginner should buy one and keep it on hand for the near futur, in your music studies. Its very descriptive, the examples are great ! And the references where you can find the song titles and name of the artist, and album names and records are just great !
The book was in great condition to start with. I have only started reading it, but I do see this helping me with my flute playing, improvization and in depth understanding of music theory and Jazz. My flute teacher recommended it to me, only to find that a friend of a friend uses it extensively. He plays guitar and bass.

A wealth of useful knowledge.

This book will be most helpful for someone who already has a fairly good working knowledge of chords and chord progressions. By itself it will be overwhelming if you don't take lessons in jazz piano and also use other books for performance techniques.
The reason I bought this book is because I'm classically trained in music theory and always wanted to learn jazz theory. With that being said, it does help a lot to have some background in music theory before using this book. But otherwise, it's one of the best jazz theory books out there and I highly recommend it!
