A travelogue of visits in 1993 to four islands in Micronesia. Two have substantial frequencies of people totally colorblind. The reason for those is given. Then in Guam and Rota the local Chamorro people have a high incidence (25%) of a rare disease called lytico-bodig, which has aspects of Alzheimer, ALS, Parkinson, etc. It runs in families, so its seems to be both hereditary and environmental in cause. But it is dying out.
