As a horse owner I knew a lot of things about dealing with horses - but mostly from what I'd been taught or witnessed. My new horse was behaving badly and I knew I needed help dealing with her. When I saw the title of this book I decided to read it and see if I could learn anything new. I can't thank Jessica Jahiel enough - nor can my horse, I'm sure - for presenting solutions to problems that don't require me to punish my horse nor feel a need to dominate her in a physical way. I can now be loving and sweet to with her and use gentler methods of correction when she exhibits problem behavior. In the few weeks since I bought the book I've already incorporated some strategies, and they've worked well! Thanks to Jahiel for offering solutions that don't require me to hit, smack, jerk on the reins, nor lock my horse in her stall. I'm a better horse owner already! My only criticism is that the book isn't long enough. I want even more suggestions and ideas for interacting with my horse in a calm, gentle way and getting the best from her in return. Hopefully Jahiel has written a follow-up book.Read full review
This is a great book that is highly recommended for any type of horse owner. This gives great examples, pictures, and illuistrations. I would recommend this book especially for new owners, but is great for the experienced owner as well. It is a must read.
Book is very good book. Havent had decent enough weather to try some of the things in it yet. But it does answer a lot of good questions.
I read through the book quickly. Got kind of tired of the folksy, mommy talk. There was some good information but felt like I was wading through mud to get it.
Got this for my husband. I believe he found it helpful.
