I purchased "The Goldwyn Follies" because it featured ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his dummy Charlie McCarthy, who were perhaps the most popular radio stars of the late 1930s, the 40's, and into the 50's--and I collect anything Bergen and McCarthy. I bought this particular technicolor DVD because the DVD was made in 1998, although the content and photography is copyrighted 1938. So it's a new copy of an old movie. VHS and DVD recordings available today of old black-and-white Bergen-McCarthy movies, in comparison, are more or less like "homemade" copies--grainy, overexposed, noisy background sound, etc. This DVD, by HBO Home Video, is technically excellent, and it is remastered in stereo surround sound. The DVD is divided into 21 Chapter Stops with interactive menus, including cast biographies, multiple language tracks, and scene selections.Read full review
Couldn't stop laughing at some of the antics going on. A fun film the whole family can watch.
