This might be the fourth or fifth time I've read the books (all three in the series). I'm a writer and I learn from Stig Larsen and will always regret he died before he could see the incredible effect his books have had one tens of millions of people.

You won't be sorry when you read this first of three books by Stieg Larsson. The characters are very well thought out and the story line is compelling. Many surprises. I have heard that some people find it too dark but I do not agree. The next two novels are a must read as well. You won't want to stop at one!

Good story, not great, but good. Worth the read, if you are interested in the synopsis.

I heard about this book from a friend who highly recommended it. The first chapter was a little slow, but it soon picked up and became jam-packed full of mystery, intrigue, and multiple well developed characters. I couldn't stop reading this book until I finished all 500+ pages. The author's refreshing view of modern relationships and unlikely alliances makes it even more interesting. There is a strong underlying distaste for misogonists, and they certainly do not go unpunished. There were a few different mysteries all wrapped up in to one novel. I enjoyed this book so much that I have ordered the next two books in the trilogy, written by Stieg Larsson.
A good read that I would suggest to others. Give it some time, once you hit around page 60, it definitely picks up speed and gets you hooked. Also, don't worry about absorbing all of the detail of names / cities in the first 50 +/- pages - it doesn't matter in the scheme of things or the main storyline. There are some very graphic sex scenes - not intended for a young audience! Overall a good read and I look forward to continuing the series.
