Author Biography
Thirteen-year-old watercolor artist Tova Beck has won many awards for her paintings, including first place in the Tahoma Audubon's bird drawing contest (three consecutive years), and first place in the Pierce County Poster Contest. Her work is featured on the cover of a published coloring book (Snake Lake Nature Center, Tacoma). Tova produced her first book of bird drawings when she was in kindergarten. Like the fictional character in the book, she has enjoyed teaching children in classrooms, bookstores, and nature centers to identify and draw birds. Author and illustrator Mimmi Beck (Tova's mom) studied English and Creative Writing at Wellesley College and also in Columbia University's MBA program.
