As always, Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote this book about her life on the Prairie it a wonderful style. However, I found this book to be somewhat more depressing than the others. There were more bad than good things that happened and there just didn't seem to be as much substance to it as the others. Now I do realize that there was no help for the circumstances I do think that more time could have been spent on talking about such things as how the houses were built and such, similar to the other books. In this book the houses and other such things were just simply there. More story about her wedding would also have been nice.
I love the simple, factual style of Laura Ingalls Wilder's writing. All of the books in the Little House series may be considered books primarily for kids, but I find them quite informative about what pioneer life was really like for some. This story is no different from the reat of the series and a vital part of the continuing story of Laura's life. However, this audiobook is only 3 CD's long so I felt it was a little expensive for such a short story.
will always treaure these books-were a part of my childhood. this one was for my sister-in-law who is blind and lives in a nursing home now-she does so enjoy being able to pass the lonely times listening to something she adores-this book made her so happy-we still try to get books for the blind to listen to-listen up out there--got any books you can listen to that are not trashy which she does not like--let me know if so. thanks, donna
