The title lures you in with the promise of a one day diet. However, the actual One Day Detox Diet takes 11 days to execute. There is a 7 day prequel diet, the fast day and then 3 days of sequel diet. So you need to devote 11 days to this diet. I needed to study the book for a couple of days and then do the shopping before beginning. It tells you to choose 1 from column A, 2 from column B and stay away from certain foods, but there is not a list of YES foods and NO foods. I had many questions, such as was spinach ok? It wasn't on the green/leafy list. The diet ain't easy to figure out or follow but there is a website full of helpful hints. The book did contain much useful information. In fact, too much! It is okay to skip certain chapters, especially if you do not need to know exactly how your colon works. My husband and I did it last month; I lost 7 pounds but have gained back 2 already. Lastly, you have to adhere to the diet quite strictly so find 11 days with no social events going on.Read full review
I got this book as a companion to "The Fat Flush Plan" Ms. Gittleman's earlier work. I have lost 45lbs and counting. The detox plan does what it says and it is a sure thing if you want to lose weight and if you have plateaued with some other diet i.e. the Adkins diet and need a jump start again. The diet is a bit austare, but it does help get rid of cravings. It is easy to follow and simple to keep going. She is very clear about why she suggests all the things she is choosing to do, right down to the suppliments she recommends.
