I am doing a unit on MC Escher and wanted to watch a video to get some more information on MC Escher. In the DVD, I enjoyed the presentation of his work and the animation of some of his drawings. The context that he created his work in was explained but I would have liked more detail on the "big ideas" that were brewing at the turn of the century (e.g. ideas of space and time) and how these influenced Escher. I enjoyed the interview with Roger Penrose. A big disappointment was the dated music and video footage. I thought for sure the date on this work must have been 1968 since the soundtrack and film footage was exactly the same as what I used to watch in school. Very shocked that the date on this is 2006. A good video for some information but very dull for students to watch.
Perfect educational and informational dvd. It is historical, descriptive, and interesting with insights into Escher, the man. It is a valuable tool in my classroom instruction. I look forward to using it for many years.
A little short one, but at last - a living video showing Escher's work, and various people who are familiar with his genius and stunning art - describe and analyze deeply into it. As I say - FOR THE FANS OF!! Thanks, Jo D.
