I saw the film at University: a friend was enormously into The Doors. It was hard to walk round campus that year without hearing the tinkle of Ray Manzarek's intro to "Light my Fire". Despite my declared bias, caused by a patina of reminiscence, I still think this is a nice selection of Doors tracks which flows well to a fairly natural rhythm. The insertion of the snatch of Carmina Burana and the Velvet Underground also seems to augment the balance. I've owned some Doors compilations that sounded a bit flat and samey, but this one keeps the attention. A good intro to the band and a pretty good compliation for the afficionado too.
allthough i own all of the doors albums i love the way this album opens with jim alone in the studio (no doors,no music,c'mon let's roll)a good set list from the film a must!
this soundtrack is really good,i really like the end and riders on are classic tracks on this soundtack for me.like their other albums brilliant.for someone who was very young when this band was around, the music seems timeless what ever age you are.
